  • AMSA National Convention

    National AMSA will be holding Convention this year from March 7-10th in Washington D.C. This trip is a wonderful opportunity to be submerged in the medical community. National Convention includes a simulation challenge, personalized mock interviews, clinical skill-building and much more!

  • Hit Like a Girl: Self Defense Class

    This is Women in Medicine’s first event of the year and we are beyond excited! At this class, we will be learning self defense techniques with Laura, who practices the art of Krav Maga. We will be learning easy moves to defend yourself and talking about the importance of self defense and self care. Come dressed in athletic clothes and get ready to kick some butt!   • Domestic Violence & Opioids Crisis Workshop

    Join us in the fight against domestic violence and the opioids crisis followed by a candlelight vigil and ceremony.

  • BB&T Fundraising Event

    When: March 23rd, 2019 at 4:30pm

    Where: at the BB&T Center: 1 Panther Pkwy, Sunrise, FL 33323

    During these events, AMSA members volunteer to help run a concession stand at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, FL (near the Sawgrass Mall) during the hockey season. Members can be assigned to either work the registers, obtain food/drinks, or prepare food for the BB&T guests.

    These events sound like a lot of work, but it is a lot of fun too. There are often periods of down-time where volunteers can prep for the next wave of customers. Food is provided if there is extra after the shift ends! I promise you that it will be an enjoyable experience, so tell your friends to join as well! Often times, carpooling occurs for these events an hour or so prior to the event, so do not worry about the cost of driving!!

    Earn money towards your trip! Or even for yourself!

  • Blood Drive / CESCOM

    Where: FAU in the Lot 4 Red Area (next to the medical school)

    We have another blood drive taking place this semester on Tuesday, March 26th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We are in need of volunteers for this event! This is a very great opportunity to get a few more hours in before the end of the semester. The shifts will only be 2 hours long. This event is at FAU in the Lot 4 Red Area (right next to the medical school).

    If you are interested in volunteering, please click HERE to sign up. You will receive a confirmation email with your shift.

    If you would like to donate blood, you may show up anytime between 10:00AM to 6:00PM.

  • MHIMR: Suicide Prevention & Awareness Event

    Tuesday March 26 6:00pm at CU301, MHMR will be hosting our annual Suicide and Depression Awareness event. The occupation with the highest suicide rate is medical physicians. Don’t be a bystander – learn how to be aware of the warning signs, how to intervene, and ways you can help! Join us to fight burn out within ourselves learning ways to practice self-love. We will also be holding a candlelight vigil to remember those who lost their life to their darkness.

    This is Women in Medicine’s last meeting of the semester and we are so excited but sad that the year is almost over. At this meeting, we will be discussing and bringing awareness to Endometriosis. If you’re not sure what that is, come to our meeting and find out! We will be drawing, painting, and discussing what Endometriosis is and how to bring awareness to it. Please wear any yellow clothes you have for Endometriosis Awareness Month and come prepared for a fun night!
