  • Exercise Nutrition and Lifestyle Meeting #2

At this virtual meeting we will be hosting a presentation by Dr. Gary Rose, M.D–a faculty member at the Florida Atlantic University College of Medicine–about the critical steps and factors involved in gaining admissions to medical school. Additionally attendees will have the opportunity to meet our leadership team and learn about our events for the semester! This meeting will be held virtually over Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Diversity in Medicine is a new interest group formed by the merger of Women in Medicine and Multicultural Medicine. Its mission is to raise awareness for challenges faced by different groups in the healthcare system as well as building cultural competency among physicians. This first meeting will be an introductory meeting and will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 emergency.

  • Clinical Skills Hypertension Training

    Clinical Skills is an interest group whose purpose is to train members to take manual blood pressure and to calculate body mass index. These training sessions will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Specialties in Medicine: Orthopedic Surgeon Event

    Specialties in Medicine is an AMSA interest group whose missions is to help students make more informed decisions about their future specialties in their careers. This meeting will be a guest speaker event where SiM will be hosting orthopedic surgeon Dr. Gustavo Huaman, M.D. He will be discussing his career as well as his path into medicine. This event will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Volunteering: Mask Tie-Dye Event

    9/24 – Volunteering is an interest group of AMSA which is responsible for connecting students with opportunities for volunteering and community service.  This event will involve members participating in tie-dyeing masks to donate to local hospitals and nursing homes. Members will be able to pick up packets with cloth and dye beforehand in order to follow along on Zoom.
